Student Community Expectations and Standards

Great Lakes Christian High School centres its education and residential program in the person and principles of Jesus Christ. The community expectations and standards exhibit our commitment to Christian principles. Each student is expected to display the following behaviours in their interaction with all members of the Great Lakes and extended community:

Be truthful when called to account for their actions or when seeking permissions.
Comply with requests made by any staff member who is upholding school expectations.
Exhibit respect toward all persons and in all relationships.
Be respectful of the personal property of others, including school property.
Use the most appropriate, positive, affirming language (include body language) and refrain from the use of profanity, euphemisms or slang in all school interactions.
Practice the "Golden Rule," "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you..." (Matthew 7:12), by being considerate of others and by being guided by the clear moral teachings of the New Testament in all school social interactions.
In addition to the above standards, if you are found in the dormitory of the opposite sex, it will result in an automatic three-day suspension; further disciplinary action may also be taken pending the circumstances in which you were found in the dorm.

Students who break the Community Standards of Canada or the Province on Ontario as contained in the "Criminal Code" automatically withdraw themselves from Great Lakes Christian High School. Withdrawal from school will result from the following:

Unlawful use of fire alarms and fire extinguishers
Possessions of firearms, weapons or illegal knives
Forced or unauthorized entry to lockers, mailboxes, rooms, buildings
Being in possession of stolen property or unauthorized keys
Possession or use of alcohol or illegal drugs
Possession or use of cigarettes/tobacco
Verbal or physical harassment, bullying and assault of student or staff
Sexual misconduct including harassment, pornography, assault or immorality in any form

I have read the above information provided by Great Lakes Christian High School. I agree to abide by the community standards and expectations of Great Lakes Christian High School as I personally seek the highest possible moral, spiritual and academic development.

I have read the GLCHS community standards and understand that as a student I will attend both Chapel and Bible classes on a regular basis. I also understand that as a student I am required to attend Church services regularly.

I understand that the community standards of GLCHS do not permit any use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco or illicit drugs or the abuse of prescribed drugs while I am a student at GLCHS. Students who do so withdraw themselves from the Great Lakes community.
